About Me videos – Why they are so important for actors (and for your visibility)
Three days of filming, lots of talented acting students and plenty of moving moments in front of and behind the camera.
What was going on?
About Me-Videos 2025!
🎬 An About Me video is an absolute must-have for actors today. It doesn’t just show your performance, but above all you – your personality, your voice, your charisma.
Because: Casters no longer just want to see beautiful scenes in a showreel. They want movement. Vitality. Closeness. They want to feel what someone is like before they even stand in the casting room.

Three days of filming – three insights:
→ Acting thrives on movement. Even in casting.
→ Camera work needs closeness and trust.
→ An About Me video reveals what makes you unique.
Over the last few days, as an acting teacher at the Theaterakademie August Everding, I was able to accompany third-year acting students – on their way in front of the camera, but above all: to themselves.
Always there – and with an incredible feel for moments behind the camera: Eva Gemmer from HFF Munich. Thank you, dear Eva, for your keen eye and your fine craft!

What makes a good About Me video?
→ Good acting scenes, of course.
→ But above all: you.
With your voice. Your posture. Your presence. Your language.
It’s an invitation:
“Look, this is me. This is what I bring. This is what you can expect from me.”
And you know what?
This kind of visibility is not only important for actors.
The same applies in business, presentations, pitches and on social media:
People want to see people. Not a facade. Not a role. But authenticity.
My conclusion after three intensive days of filming:
→ An About Me video is not a glossy product.
→ It’s a personal statement.
→ It shows courage for personality.
And sometimes that’s the missing piece of the puzzle for your next step – in auditions, at work or on your very own stage.
